U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken paid an unannounced visit to Kyiv on September 8. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken also pledged an additional $2 billion in long-term military support for Ukraine and other countries at risk of Russian invasion.
Indonesia is ready to organize a meeting between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of the Russian Federation Volodymyr Putin during the G20 summit. However, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that negotiations with Russia are possible only if Russian troops leave the illegally occupied territory of Ukraine.
Starting from September 19, Estonia closes entry for citizens of the Russian Federation through its external borders, regardless of which countries have been issued a Schengen visa. Latvia, Lithuania, Poland consider to put the similar decision into force. On September 9 the European Council adopted a decision that fully suspends the visa facilitation agreement between the EU and Russia. Consequently, the general rules of the visa code will apply to Russian citizens. The full suspension affects all categories of travelers coming to the EU for a short stay. The Commission is expected to present additional guidelines to ensure this suspension does not negatively impact certain people traveling to the EU for essential purposes, such as journalists, dissidents and civil society representatives.
Cities under attack.
Kharkiv region. At night on September 7, the Russian invaders launched 2 missile attacks on Kharkiv. One of the rockets hit a two-story building, a nearby car wash caught fire, cafes, shops, and cars were damaged. The second missile hit the ground. During the day, the Russians launched 5 missile strikes on Kharkiv’s infrastructure. The critical infrastructure facilities and industrial buildings were damaged. Also on September 7, 4 districts of the region were fired. 8 people were injured, private houses and farm buildings were damaged. The next day, on September 8, the Russian military shelled one district of Kharkiv. As a result, 2 people were killed and 5 people were injured, and the administrative building was damaged. Mykolaiv region. 2 districts of the region were under attack on September 7. The Russian invaders attacked the water zone of the city of Ochakiv. Next to one settlement, a dry grass fire broke out in an open area. As a result of the shelling, private houses, agricultural warehouses and an agricultural enterprise were damaged. Dnipropetrovsk region. On September 7 and 8, the Russian invaders shelled one district of the region. As a result, an enterprise was damaged. In Nikopol, 11 private houses, farm buildings, several panels of a solar power plant, a local gymnasium and a power line were damaged. Zaporizhzhia region. On September 7, the Russian occupiers attacked the queue for humanitarian aid in one of the settlements. As a result, 7 people were injured.
Cities under occupation.
Kherson region. Three civilian men were kidnapped, two of whom tried to leave together with their families to the territory controlled by Ukraine. Another person was kidnapped from his place of work. Also, the Russian occupiers kidnapped the secretary of the Kakhovka City Council and her husband. Currently, the location of all the abductees is unknown. In general, since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Russian military has abducted 613 people in the Kherson region. Crimea. The authorities of Sevastopol launched a chatbot for denunciations of those who support the Ukrainian authorities. Kharkiv region. The self-proclaimed ‘officials’ of the occupied part of the region stated that they are going to take all the children and women out of the captured territories of the region due to allegedly Ukrainian shelings. In the occupied parts of the Southern regions of Ukraine, the number of searches and inspections of public and private transport increased. People are also stopped on the streets to check their phones and personal details.
Reportedly, Ukrainian Armed Forces liberated more than 20 settlements in Kharkiv Region.The total area of the territory returned to Ukraine’s control in the Kharkiv and Southern-Buh directions equals more than 700 square kilometers.
At the recent UN Security Council meeting, the UN Secretary General called for demilitarization of the zone around Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. He believes that the Russian and Ukrainian military must commit themselves not to conduct military operations on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. Meanwhile, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Serhiy Kyslytsia stated at a meeting of the UN Security Council that the Russian side tried to put pressure on IAEA Director General Raphael Grossi when IAEA specialists were preparing a report on the situation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP. Also, according to the ambassador, Russia is trying to use the tools of the UN Security Council to redirect the attention of the international community and divert it from the urgent need to demilitarize and de-occupy the Ukrainian nuclear power plant, which the Russians have turned into their military base.
Since the beginning of the year, the countries of the European Union have reduced the supply of Russian gas to their market by 48%, and the UK – by 49%.
At the Economic Forum in Karpacz, Poland, the Ministers of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine and Poland signed a memorandum on the construction of a pipeline for the export of Ukrainian sunflower oil through Polish ports to third countries. The planned length of the pipeline is 600 km, capacity is up to 2 million tons of sunflower oil per year.
Two-thirds of the grain that Ukraine sent to foreign consumers as part of the grain initiative was transported to the markets of Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

Russian special services have created a fake Internet portal aimed at discrediting the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in the countries of Western Europe.
Since the beginning of September, almost 4 million students have started studying in Ukraine. Almost half a million students and more than 16 thousand teachers are abroad.
The official geography book for 8th graders of Hungarian school calls the full scale invasion of Ukraine as a civil war , in which Russia is not involved. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the inadmissibility of presenting unreliable and distorted facts about Ukraine.
